|Peer-to-Peer Campaign: 2020 Eastern Trek for Cancer|
Money Raised: $14,588.15 Campaign Goal: $45,000.00
Eastern Trek for Caner is a 300-mile relay run from Portland, ME to New York City, that raises awareness and funds for the Christine B. Foundation (CBF). From June 21-27, 2020, young adults from around the northeast are brought together to leave their footprints on the route and support those affected by cancer. During the 7-day Trek each June, the team visits cancer centers along the route, hand out comfort bags to patients, volunteers at hospitality homes, and become leaders in the fight against cancer. Other CBF services supported by the Trek include:
-Cancer Patient Navigation Services (one-on-one support for patients and/or their families).
-Nutritional Assistance (home meal delivery, spanning 11,500 square miles, to cancer patients receiving active treatment).
-Conferences offering a day of free cancer-related education, empowerment, and resources.
-Educating and developing young-adult leaders to become stronger advocates for cancer care.
-Collaborative Coordination of Care (uniting local, regional, and statewide leaders from health systems and community organizations to share resources and collectively reduce the burden of Cancer in Eastern Maine).
